Summary

The book has been written in Hungarian and published in Hungary by KKEETTOO Media Ltd. First edition 1998, second edition 1999. To the best of our knowledge, it was the first (non IT) book ever in Hungary that had direct Internet support and sported a www address on its cover.

Objectives

It was the objective of the writers to come up with a book that is a true mirror of the Netherlands, Amsterdam and the Dutch people and highlights issues particularly relevant in transitional countries like Hungary, including:

· the operation of a fine tuned democracy

· promotion of equality of sexes

· promotion of freedom of speech

· the fact that creative chaos beats rigid order (e.g. cannabis policies)

· promotion of cultural and racial tolerance

· the importance of being “”gezellig”” in the journey to find the meaning of life

· promotion of the notion that individual sexual preferences are private matters

· cultural explanation and partial promotion of protestant values

· promotion of friendly feelings between Hungarians and the Dutch
